Blue Badge Umpires - Oct 2012

The Blue Badge is an Elite Status of an International Table Tennis Umpire. Candidates are required to pass a written test followed by 4 "meets" within a certain period. Having achieved required "meets", they have to maintain their status by obtaining further 3 "meets" within next 3 calendar years. If they don't obtain required "meets", their BB Status is lost. They revert back to their White Badge Status.

The ITTF started this programme since 2004 and there are 224 active BB Umpires today. Some of these BB Umpires have lost their status and some are engaged in the ITTF administration. The results of the examination and their elevation to BB Status are published every 3 months.

This Web Site started keeping records of BB Umpires since early 2008. This is for the first time there is no one gained the status of BB during the period from July-to-September 2012.
